Buying a house in Haarlem: the neighbourhoods that rarely reach Funda
In Haarlem a share of the homes change hands without ever being on Funda, above all in the neighbourhoods below. If you want to live there, a personal letter reaches the owners best; each neighbourhood page names the streets people ask about and what the figures say.

Neighbourhoods in Haarlem
- Buying a house in the Kleverpark
The Kleverpark is the neighbourhood that people from Amsterdam move to and then never leave. I can see that from the turnover: houses come free here when a life changes, not because someone is ready for something else. Many of them are first passed around the street by word of mouth. By the time the house is on Funda, a few neighbours have often already had a look on behalf of an acquaintance who wants to come.

- Buying a house in Bosch en Vaart
Bosch en Vaart is the Haarlem neighbourhood where I see people arrive from Amsterdam-Zuid and then stay for good. Very little comes up for sale, and what does come up has often already been sold before the photos are taken: to an acquaintance of the owner, to a family that has been on a list for years, or to someone who once put a letter through the door.
Bosch en Vaartstraat · Uit den Bosstraat · Oranjeplein · Berkenrodestraat · postcode 2012
- Buying a house in the Koninginnebuurt
The Koninginnebuurt is the part of Haarlem where I see commuters arrive who were looking for exactly this: a town house within walking distance of the station and the Hout. They never leave. As a result little comes up for sale, and what does is often already spoken for: to an acquaintance, to a family that was on an agent's list, or to someone who once put a letter through the door.
